Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a non-invasive physical therapy that stimulates the body’s own healing powers. It is an old, traditional, Japanese healing method.
Shiatsu means “finger pressure”, but unlike the massages of the West, where kneading and friction are sused, in Zen Shiatsu pressure & stretching are the key. The shiatsu practitioner uses palms, fingers, thumbs, knuckles, elbows, knees and the feet to work on the body’s acupuncture points, along the body’s meridians or energy channels.
Due to their effect on the nervous system, Shiatsu treatments help relieve stress and pain, as well as improve muscle, organ, and joint function. This deep but gentle approach to preventative health care has many long term benefits for people of all ages. It helps to balance a person’s energy flow, and strengthens the vital organs. It is a safe and effective preventative medicine.
Yoga
YOGA is a spiritual tradition which seeks to bestow happiness and inner freedom rather than merely physical fitness and health.
While there are different aspects, the practice of Yoga and many schools of teachings, the underlying purpose of Yoga is “Spiritual Discipline”.
The word YOGA is derived from the Hindi verbal root YUJ (theYoke of the harness). What must be the Yoke of harness is attention, which ordinarily flits from object to object.
Psycho-spiritual Counseling
Glen addresses the needs of the soul and spirit as well as the human experience. With so many individuals now embarking on spiritual journeys, we need to honor the human spirit.
In addition to basics such as building self-esteem and a healthy ego, establishing boundaries and getting needs met, we also need to go beyond ordinary consciousness acknowledging the miracle of the soul, mystical experiences and multi-dimensional awareness in therapy.
Through his model meditation workshop “Awakening to the Positive” Glen helps you to re-discover your original purpose and prepare you for the next positive step in your life.
There are 3 levels to this workshop. Each session is approx. 4 hours and is followed by individual counseling appointments on a bi-weekly or monthly basis depending on each individual. There is about 4-6 months between each level of the meditation workshops.
Meditation
Meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the conditioned, “thinking” mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. Meditation often involves turning attention to a single point of reference. It is recognized as a component of almost all religions, and has been practiced for over 5,000 years. The word meditation originally comes from the Indo-European root med-, meaning “to measure.”[ From the root med- are also derived the English words mete, medicine, modest, and moderate. It entered English as meditation through the Latin meditation, which originally indicated every type of physical or intellectual exercise, then later evolved into the more specific meaning “contemplation”.
